Donald Yim AIFD, CFD, CPFD

Donald Yim AIFD, CFD, CPFD

Donald is the Creative Director at West Van Florist in Vancouver, Canada, Education Specialist at Floriology Institute in Jacksonville FL, and is on the AIFD NW Region Board of Directors. He began his explorations in floral design more than 25 years ago and today he creates innovative and award winning designs.      

    Donald’s enthusiasm has been fueled by a genuine passion for sharing and exchanging ideas. He enjoys connecting with new students and fellow designers in a multitude of settings: as a guest speaker, on stage as well as demonstrating and presenting to audiences of designers.      

       He is also proficient in showroom set-up, organization, management, and take-downs; he incorporates his design and trend knowledge to create eye-catching permanent arrangements and aesthetically appealing displays of merchandise. 

    He is an artist and avid amateur photographer winning social media photo competitions. His designs have been featured internationally in print: Canadian Florist magazine, Floriology magazine; France’s  Nacre   magazine; and the UK’s Fusion Flowers, among  many others.                                              

    He is a multiple award winning designer and has participated in internationally renowned shows such as the 2005, 2007 Philadelphia Flower Show and the 2005, 2007, 2013 AIFD National Symposium. Donald has crisscrossed the world, learning, teaching, and sharing what he discovers in his on-going journey.

J. Keith White

As Partner and Design Director of AANDK Productions, a special events company, J. Keith White is known for his floral vision and extraordinary designs. No stranger to the news media, Keith's programs and projects have been covered by broadcast, Internet and print journalism for more than two decades. Sponsored by FTD, his masterful designs for the official vehicles in the annual Rose Parade® have been viewed by millions. Keith’s published credits include Wedding Winning Bouquet Combinations, which was produced with Florists’ Review and the California Cut Flower Commission (CCFC); FTD-sponsored Design Portfolio for 2013, 2014 and 2015 and Creative Director, The American Floral Trends Forecast 2016-2017. 

     Keith's talents as a designer, merchandiser and communicator have been recognized throughout the industry. Most recently, Keith's design work was featured in several issues of Florists' Review. Keith represented the United States in the Interflora World Cup at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China, and served as a sponsored jury staff member for the Interflora World Cup in Melbourne, Australia, in 2004. Since his induction into AIFD in 1996, Keith has presented four main stage programs at various AIFD Symposia.  

    While he is known for his flair, showmanship and professionalism, his programs also present meaningful educational content. Through his numerous roles, Keith has helped to redefine floristry as a service of luxury merchandise in a global marketplace.

Derek C. Woodruff AIFD, CFD, CF, PFCI

2018 Flower Forum

Derek C. Woodruff AIFD, CFD, CF, PFCI launched his career in artistic floral design at the young age of 16. He initially studied the trade at Jackson Area Career Center where he became certified by the Michigan Floral Association (CF). He also studied floral design at Lansing Community College and Michigan State University, and then with the American Institute of Floral Designers. 

      His early experience in the retail floral setting allowed him to learn the   business and hone his technical skills, which prepared him for creating his own floral design business in 2009. Armed with his passion, unique style, and abilities, Derek has since earned the prestigious appellations of AIFD, CFD and PFCI.

      In addition to achieving this recognition by professional organizations, Derek’s love of a good challenge has won him many titles in floral design competitions including the distinguished Chuck Bannow Award, Michigan Floral Association Designer of the Year (Twice), the AIFD’s celebrated Bobbi Cup (twice) and also runner up in the SAF’s prestigious Sylvia Cup Competition. Derek also had the unique and fortunate experience of being a finalist as a competitor on The Arrangement, a reality floral design competition show on the LOGO network.
     
      Currently, Derek co-hosts a floral design web series produced by Syndicate Studios. He demonstrates his techniques for creative and artistic floral designs and provides tips for using popular and new materials introduced by Syndicate Sales, a key producer of distinctive containers and supplies for the floral industry. In addition to the web series, Derek sits on Syndicate’s Retail Advisory Council. His vision on the Council helps to set the trend for new products and keeps Derek at the forefront of the industry.

Tim Farrell AIFD, AAF, PFCI

2018 Flower Forum

Tim Farrell AIFD, AAF, PFCI is an accomplished floral designer, known throughout the country for his creations of beautiful floral compositions. His understanding and ability to teach the elements and principles of floral design make him a sought after presenter for garden clubs, horticultural schools, and retail florist organizations throughout the country. He has owned and operated Farrell’s Florist in Drexel Hill, PA since 1983, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Villanova University in 1984.

     Tim was inducted into the prestigious American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) in 2000 and served as its National Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and President. He is the recipient of the AIFD Award of Distinguished Service to the flower industry.

     The American Academy of Floriculture (AAF) inducted Tim into its membership in 2001. Tim was inducted to Professional Floral Communicators International (PFCI) in 2006.

     Tim’s work has been showcased in the Philadelphia Flower show as a featured designer in the gallery of AIFD, as a guest speaker for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and as a judge for the competitive classes for several years, and as stage host for the Designer Studio.

    Tim has served as a Teleflora Unit President for the Penn Jersey Unit and as the Regional Unit Director for the Northeast Region of the United States from 1996 to 2007.

        In 2007, Tim was honored  to represent the United States in the Teleflorist of the Year Competition held in Tokyo, Japan.   

    In May 2009, Tim was chosen as the florist spokesperson for Teleflora to promote the benefits of hand arranged, hand delivered flowers on national television through the HSN Network.

    His work has appeared several times in the national publication FLOWERS&, which included his monthly columns titled Design Savvy and A Way with Display and Design Tech.

    Tim also designed and produced the stage arrangements for the 2001 Presidential Inauguration Ball in Washington, DC, and has assisted in floral décor for several White House functions and State Sinners.                                                                                                        

    From 2006 until 2010, Tim was a member of the Oscars design team assembled by Charisma Designs, which created the floral designs for the Red Carpet and the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, CA for the annual Academy of Motion Pictures Awards show.

In 2015 Tim was honored to create floral designs for the Red Carpet and the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, CA for the annual Academy of Motion Pictures Awards show.

    In 2016 Tim was the featured presenter at the World Flower Council Summit in Kenya, Africa.

    He is a member of Teleflora’s prestigious team of Education Specialists.

Aynsley Broom   is a marketer and social media manager who has been working with businesses on improving their marketing strategy.

      She has worked in many different industries including education, retail, and now the floral industry with Flower Shop Network.

     Small businesses are her passion, and she loves finding what makes each business special and helping them capitalize on that uniqueness.

Derrick Myers CPA, CFP

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, with certificates in accounting and finance, Derrick Myers CPA, CFP went on to successfully attain his Certified Public Accountant designation, and was made a partner in the accounting firm of Crockett, Myers & Associated. He continued his professional education and became a Certified Financial Planner, and Investment Advisor Representative, and also completed the Advanced Master Florist Manager Program offered through FTD.

           Most recently, he was inducted into Professional Floral Communicators International (PFCI). Derrick provides the expertise to guide businesses and individuals toward their financial goals through management advisory services, as well as tax, estate and financial planning.

         As a business consultant, Derrick has developed financial strategies which are unique in the floral industry. His strategies have been proven instrumental in increasing the profitability of many florists. He shares these techniques during his coaching sessions as well as through his seminars. These techniques focus on helping your company reduce coasts, manage staff, save taxes, and make your business profits bloom.

          Derrick has been working with the floral industry since 1983. During this time he has also perfected his “Florist Analysis Program” while working with hundreds of florists and being active in numerous florists’ associations. The “Floral Analysis Program” breaks down and analyzes financial statements in such a way that Derrick can show the florist owner exactly where to focus their time and energy to reduce costs and increase profits.
